Hundreds of millions of years ago, the Moon began to cool and contract. New research has calculated the rate of contraction by measuring surface features called scarp faults. The rate of contraction is very small, but the phenomenon still creates landslides, a potential hazard for missions to the lunar surface. Image Credit: By Gregory H.
